Diabetic Dyslipidemia: Causes and Consequences
Ie Byung Park
Abstract
Dyslipidemia is an important modifiable cardiovascular risk factor in subjects with type 2 diabetes. Diabetic dyslipidemia is characterized by both quantitative and qualitative changes in lipoproteins, such as increased triglycerides and triglyceride-rich remnants, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and increased small dense low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. This article is reviewed the causes and characterizations of diabetic dyslipidemia. (Korean Clinical Diabetes J 11:107-109, 2010)
